A workshop to present the results of the project "Integrated assessment of the environment and health impact of air pollution in Italy" (VIIAS), promoted by the Italian Ministry of Health, will be held in Rome, on June 4

The project VIIAS, coordinated by the Department of Epidemiology of the Regional Health Service of Lazio, estimated concentrations of PM2.5 to the ground, NO2 and O3 in different scenarios (base year: 2005, 2010 and 2020) and its exposure levels of the Italian population in the different regions (north, center, south and islands) or in urban / rural contexts. Applying the functions of risk suggested by the World Health Organization have been estimated the mortality and expected years of life lost due to exposure to long and short term.

During the workshop, the case studies conducted in Rome, to the extent of pollution by ultrafine particles and for the evaluation of the benefits of urban green spaces, and in Emilia Romagna, where they conducted a trial of the local model VIIAS, will be also discussed.
