The Pediatric Cancer Registry (RTI) is the first Italian pediatric cancer registry and one of the largest in southern Europe. The RTI systematically collects incidence and survival data for the entire regional territory.

Cases of cancer that occur in children and teens, between 0 and 19 years, in Piedmont are detected actively at periodic intervals of two years.

For each case the status in life at the municipality of residence is periodically ascertained. Incidence and mortality rates and cumulative survival probabilities are calculated. The frequency of second tumors is measured with periodic surveys at the departments and with the examination of hospital discharge cards.

The RTI also conducts studies on the quality of life and the second long-surviving tumors, collaborating in research on a national and international scale.
