Long term exposure to ambient air pollution resulting from exhaust emissions, industries and heating plants, even if at levels below the current Italian and European limit values, is strongly associated with incidence of coronary events.
Evidence from a new investigation conducted by the European Study of Cohorts for Air Pollution Effects (ESCAPE) was published on the British Medical Journal.
