Estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO) show a continuous increase in prevalence and cost of respiratory diseases, which have become the second leading cause of disability in Western nations. However health authorities, healthcare professionals and the public opinion are still not fully aware of the health and social impact of these diseases.

For this reason, the scientific societies of Medical Statistics and Clinical Epidemiology, Pulmonology, Epidemiology, Allergology and Pediatrics have jointly organized the Workshop “Large scale population-based surveys on respiratory health in Italy and Europe” to be held on 23rd-24th October in Verona.
